HAMPSHIRE PARK -- At 2:00 a.m. this morning, a man's body was found by a male jogger in the park. The victim, identified as 35 year old Ray Valdez, had been shot twice with a .38 caliber pistol. He was employed as a local sanitation worker, was married and had two children.
Mrs. Granville, who lives near the park, said she heard gunshots late last night. Other residents nearby reported hearing dogs barking shortly before the body of Mr. Valdez was found. Reporters spoke with Detective Allen of the New Hampshire Police Department, who stated that he believes this to be a homicide, but as yet there are no conclusive leads. He also stated that it appears this latest incident could be related to a series of similar murders in the Hampshire Park area.
