Caught Red-Handed
a sonnet- thanks, Hannah, for giving me the idea of putting scripture to sonnet!

Amidst this dusty day and anger’s glare
They throw me at His feet like so much dirt.
My shame a public thing laid starkly bare-
Just one more ugly moment in my hurt.

Indignant that I broke the sacred law,
Yet more a chance to lure Him to His doom-
A weapon made of this my fatal flaw
To seal us both within accuser’s tomb.

Such judgment seals each heart with heavy stone,
Yet oldest stone still rests in my own hand-
Self-hate a shroud around my spirit sewn,
Just condemnation written in the sand.

Yet it is love, not judgment, bending near.
I drop my stone beside His mercy here.
