In the mist of the night a roar like no roar was heard around the village of the town of Seabay. This roar was like no other roar that any human being could ever imagine. The roar was almost indescribable. Villager’s hearts thumped fast as if they were seeing the last of their days.
Then the roar came again. No villager could sleep. Each villager was very suspicious of this sound. So, then a little young boy could not resist of getting out of bed and discovering this mystery. The little boy hopped out of his bed with a straw mattress and escaped out of his house without his parents even sensing him leaving and sneaking out the door. He stopped in his tracks. The roar came again. It was coming from farther out into the mountains. The boy rushed forward as fast as his little legs could carry him. His brain was working rapidly trying to think. It came again. He was very surprised no other villagers except him had enough courage to solve the mystery. He ran and ran, until the roar came again. The boy was just moments away from the mystery. The roar came again. He sped over to the noise until he stood in front of a median sized mouth of a cave. The boy squinted inside hoping to see through the thick darkness inside of the cave. Until the boy saw something that shocked him with amusement and partly a little bit of fear. Burning fire came flaming across the cave! It was like the end of the world was near! The boy then fell back from the heat and he saw pitch black. Was the young boy done for? He then felt a scaly skin rub across his arm. The boy saw blurriness and then his eyes shot open as he looked straight at a rather small dragon. “Ahhhhh!” He screamed with fear. He started to crawl backwards away from the dragon. But the dragon stared at him. He looked harmless. “Oh, please,” This dragon said! The boy looked dumbfounded. “I do not mean any harm.” The boy did not speak. He just looked the dragon into the eyes. They glared at each other as if they had known each other for all of their lives. “Please. I’m not the kind of dragon you think I am!” The dragon remarked. “Please don’t be fooled by my ancestors. Please!” The boy could not speak. He did not know what to say. Then the obvious question came, “Who are you? What do you want?” The boy said hoping for a decent answer. A answer that wasn’t bad like for example, “I am Destroyer and you shall be my pray!” “I…I…I’m Jack. I don’t want to hurt you. I just want a friend. Everyone else thought I was different. They were right, I am different.” He pouted. “Um, well I will, uh, be your friend, Jack.” The boy said not believing what he had just said. “Oh, thank you-” “-Joey.” The boy answered. “Oh, thank you, Joey. I know you will be a true friend.” The dragon said. Everyday the boy came and visited his new dragon-friend every day secretly, for he did know it would not be very pleasant if any of the other villagers were to find out. Until one day Joey’s father made him “halt” in the doorway. The boy swung around. His father wasn’t the nicest of the nicest people. “Where do you think you are going boy?” His dad had screamed at him waiting for and explanation. “Uh, Tuck had invited me to his house today.” Joey lied as fast as he could. The father looked very curious. “Off you go then!” His father stammered. Joey ran off. His father though, peaked out the window and saw that his son was not heading toward his friend’s Tuck’s house, but was heading straight to the mountains. The father raced out the door and was gone in a flash. His father sneaked along the dirt road and was following his only son. He did not call for Joey, for he wanted to know what he was up to. Joey’s father halted at the entrance of the cave that Joey was at. Joey was already inside doing something very suspicious. His father peered in. There in the front of his own two eyes stood his son and a rather small dragon talking! His father darted inside and grabbed Joey in a flash and carried him down back to the village without even saying a single word. His father slammed him down onto a chair when they had reached their house. “What was that boy?” He screamed at Joey. Joey did not answer. He was too shocked. “You stay here!” His dad said, “I am going to go alert the council that there is a dragon lurking around in the mountains!” Joey started to pout. His pal was about to be discovered and not in a good way! Soon enough a whole herd of gathering warriors were marching down the street with swords and bow and arrows and spears. His father was leading the group of warriors. Joey raced up from the chair and out the door. He hurried up to his father. “Stay back. This is nothing for you to witness!” His father said. His father was surly correct. The group of warriors halted at the mouth of the hideout of Jack’s cave. Jack, the dragon, came to the mouth of the cave and started to breath fire at the warriors. “Nooooo!” Screamed Joey. His father seized a spear and threw it at Jack. Joey saw something that no boy should ever witness. His best friend slain.
