Lost Keys

Should I tell you a story about losing my keys?
Would it interest you, perhaps lend you some ease?
The importance of which, I write it for free.
Beyond just a story, my lost keys and me.

I guess to start, you surely need know,
Each of those keys, I gained through sorrow.
The story of which, you need not know,
Just grant it for certain, my words as they flow.

The first key, the hardest to get and be found.
And once I did find it, celebrated the town.
Such grace; a great crew to have round.
My luck it changed the day that first key was found.

The next key, the second, did not want to be seen.
On the day I found it, I heard the ill of death ring.
So I wept a little, no one could see.
A boy in mans shoes, proving manhood to me.

The next key, the third on my ring,
Searched me out, like I was its kin.
Looking upon it, with wonder and awe;
It filled me with grandeur, and made me feel tall.

The fourth key seemed happy to be found on my path,
With lessons that move forward my craft.
I buffed it, and shined it, and knew then for sure,
The keys of my life, shed Light in my store.

The fifth key, and last one I'll speak of today,
Has weathered many of my slaughtered days.
Looking upon it, and knowing those ways,
I slide it onto my key-ring in a haze.

So here is the story those keys paved for me,
Bringing wisdom, kindness, and grace, all for free.
The cost that I pay, I have come to know,
Unravels my life, when lost keys steal the show.
