Put on your cap,
Get a last sip of water.
Get ready to win,
Someone bet a quarter.

Take out a ball,
Step onto the court.
Hit the ball over,
The opponent shouts, “Fault!”

Take out another ball,
Hit it down hard,
The ball goes in,
It’s hit back with a thud.

Run across the court,
Hit the ball high.
He shouts, “Good lord!”
And runs to try.

He misses the ball
And remarks, “Good game.”
I smile at him,
And say the same.
