MY PORT


I’m a fan of the contests
And enjoy their challenge,
Having, from acrostics to
Sonnets, quite a wide range.

Yet this is one contest which
I would not have entered
But for the huge GP prize
That is hereby offered.

It asks me to blow my own
Trumpet to pass the test
That out of all the authors,
I am truly the best.

So, most reluctantly I
Say I have done my mite
To write poetry that is
In rhyme and meter right.

Moreover, I have written
On quite diverse topics,
Some of which are sensitive
And do invite pin pricks.

My port has some folders on
The so called terror war,
And also on the reasons
Why men and women spar.

It has folders for children,
Science, environment,
As also on law and health
And medical treatment.

Women’s and the olds’ issues
Have yet their own folder.
There’s also a folder for
The poems with humour.

Love, spirituality
And miscellaneous,
Are the names of some other
Folders conspicuous.

I have hosted a contest
To foster rhythm and rhyme.
For promoting ghazal form,
I’ve made efforts sublime.

Besides the above, I have
Some ‘how to’ articles
And poems to overcome
The writing obstacles.

Lastly, my port also has
Poems bilingual
And those written in Hindi,
Something unusual.

So you see that my port has
Something for everyone.
And, in perfect rhyme and rhythm,
Most of it has been done!
