Sue and the Birthday Bash

Miss Anita called, "Sue will you run get the mail."

"Ok Mommy," said Sue as she ran for the front door. When Sue returned she was jumping up and down. "Mommy, Mommy, look this letter has my name on it," Sue said to her mom.

"Well, let's open it up and see what it is," said Miss Anita to her bubbly seven year old. "What is it Sue? Oh, look how pretty," Miss Anita exclaims as they open the card, and Sue giggled with glee.

You are invited to a Birthday Bash at the A-1 Academy Sunday, April 8, 2007, was written on the card in beautiful blue swirls with balloons and party hats of all colors.

"Sue you are invited to a Birthday Bash at school, your school turned one year old this month," said Miss Anita.

"Ooo, Mommy how pretty. What does Bash mean?" Sue said excitedly, her big green eyes sparkling as she held the big birthday card. "How can my school be one, I'm seven."

"A bash is a great big party, Sue, and your class is the very first class that the school has ever taught. It opened when you started first grade," explained Miss Anita.

"Did my school started just for me?" ask Sue.

"Well in a way it did Sue, do you remember who Miss Deborah is?" ask Miss Anita

"She is the lady in the office," answered Sue.

"That is right. Miss Deborah wanted to share her love of books and writing with all the students at the school. So she started A-1 Academy for you and all the other students you go to school with," explained Miss Anita.

"Does she really like reading and writing that much?" ask Sue.

"She sure does Sue and she likes her students, too" said Miss Anita. "Ok, Sue the party is in two days, what are we going to take to the party?" "Would you like to draw Miss Deborah a picture and write her a story for your schools birthday?"

"Yes ma'am, I like to draw and tell stories." Sue replied.

"Ok, you better get started, here is your card." Miss Anita said as she sent Sue off to work on her story and picture for the birthday bash.

Sue and Miss Anita worked on the present for the party, and just before it was time to go Miss Anita helped Sue wrap her story and drawing in pretty paper and bows to give to Miss Deborah.

When Sue and Miss Anita arrived at the party everything was decorated so pretty. There were balloons, and strips of colored ribbon hanging everywhere. Miss Deborah was standing by the table with the huge birthday cake. Sue ran to Miss Deborah with the present out in front of her. Giggling with delight as she handed Miss Deborah the present she had made.

Sue played with her class mates and had a wonderful time at the Birthday Bash for A-1 Academy. On the ride home Miss Anita smiled as she looked in the rear view mirror at Sue asleep in her car seat.
