LYING NEXT TO A GHOST

Our life is so much shattered,
Each night is like a blight.
I feel that I am lying
Next to a ghost at night.

That we were once in deep love,
Who can now imagine?
I do not know why and when
Loss of love did begin.

There must be some reason that
I’m not able to trace
A sign of affection in
Your always silent face.

There was a time when by me
You were so enchanted.
What has happened I don’t know;
Now I am unwanted.

What has happened to all those
Promises of love tall?
Why keep up these pretenses?
Why not quit after all?
