![]() MICHALEEN OGE PERUE Friends, if you please, take a seat or your knees, and I tell you now what I shall do, I’ll paint from my palate and sing you the ballad of one Michaleen Oge Perue! Our hero, in brief, was a leprechaun chief, Who would hide all his gold in his crock, And if by some chance you might catch him a glance, His shillelagh might give you a knock! Oh, he left for a while the Emerald Isle And blasted off into the blue There is no comparing to one so daring as Michaleen Oge Perue! Now, his searching for gold was getting quite old and for further adventures he sought, for his name to soar among legend and lore, and then into his head came this thought: “For a wee man to sail’s not far off the pale, But what a grand thing, now, to fly! Now, an aeroplane is just too mundane, I shall catch me a star from the sky!” Oh, he left for a while the Emerald Isle And blasted off into the blue There is no comparing to one so daring as Michaleen Oge Perue! Now, he found for himself, a corner and shelf On a rocket ship there on the pad, But he learned with a whistle, he rode on a missile, And things went to worse, from bad! “Ah, what a disgrace! I can’t get to space!” And with a wail of wild despair, He grabbed two flat things and he used them like wings And jumped off over County Kildaire! And he glided back home, wanting no more to roam, But what a story to tell, he had, As he goes roamin’ throughout all the gloamin’, Of his adventure there on the pad! Oh, he left for a while the Emerald Isle And blasted off into the blue There is no comparing to one so daring as Michaleen Oge Perue!
