The Other Twelve
A short tribute to honor my Savior.

      The Other Twelve

A small troop of twelve roe deer
frightened by the sudden noonday storm,
like a flock of birds, together they ran
as the lightning crashed
& the deafening thunder rolled
violent cracks opened
like hungry mouths
in the swollen ground

Terror stricken & in immense darkness
that engulfed all the land
the troop fled the cover of the trees
the trees that toppled at every turn

Reaching the open plain nearer to the city
they saw no escape from the pitch black sky

Instinct pushed them to higher ground
there they stopped on a skull like hill
frozen they stared at three lone leafless trees

Although mangled & disfigured,
they solemnly & w/o hesitation
bowed to their Creator.
