the golden dragon
loss of a loved one

This item requires reviews with ratings.
the golden dragon
of intricately folded paper
thrones on the unpolished cedar table
gathering dust, untouched since that night
untimely accident, too long ago
though time stands still since that moment
year after year the wine has turned to vinegar
the bottle he had prepared for the surprize
offering her the rare origami treasure

now he, her beloved unaltering,
comes unhurrying to the room
careful to not to disturb death's peace
suddenly the unnatural quiet is broken
unchecked, heartwrenching
faithful to his departed
his grief soars higher and higher
like the firey breath of the dragon
meeting her soul part way between
here and the heavens
where he so willingly
would have continued his life
wondering why it has been
so prolonged in unending solitude

the golden dragon
