I really tried but I couldn’t sit still. I’m sure the other passengers thought it was flying that made me jumpy but it was the destination. I couldn’t believe that I was finally going to see Lisa. We had talked about this day for so long and it was surreal that it was actually happening. Once I was finally with her, how would I ever leave?
I attempted to fill the three hour flight with magazines, music, and the movie but nothing helped. Finally, after what seemed like endless time, we were instructed to put our trays upright. My heart was in my throat and my hands shook as I felt the plane touch down. Impatient and in silence, I waited for the leisurely passengers. Inside I was screaming. First meetings are so full of anticipation and I was terrified. What if I didn’t measure up to what she expected? Finally, everyone began to file out. I wanted to shove through but decided against it. As I entered the corridor, I strained to see into the waiting crowd. I didn’t see her. But then a stunning angel stepped out. God, she was beautiful. Her shy smile turned into a Cheshire grin. My pace quickened until I was sprinting into her outstretched arms hugging her tight. We spoke simultaneously. “I thought you changed your mind,” she began. “I worried you wouldn’t come,” I started. We stopped talking and broke out into laughter. “I’ve waited so long to see you, Lisa,” I said softly. “I can’t believe you’re here.” Her brown eyes shone. I smiled. “Me either. But I am.” Putting my hands on her shoulders, I pushed her towards the glass. Everyone in the airport disappeared as her lips touched mine in the first sweet, sensual kiss of many to come. **300 Words**
