She cluches a flag
folded just right.
Replacing her father
lost in the fight.

It's been hers forty years,
but she is only thirty nine.
The flag holds her tears,
shed through time.

Inside her body,
a new life stirs.
A goodbye gift,
from Danny to her.

Dannys' a soldier,
and went back to the fight.
He's been gone for months,
but he will be home tonight.

Danny is bringing home gifts,
for his daughter and wife.
A silver star and a flag,
folded just right.
