Trying to Fly

TRYING TO FLY
April 17, 2007

I had said I was flying.
I had already lifted off
in my heart and settled in the
grass of prairies; the cotton
of woods; the bad of the lands.
Now I wake up with the
bush between my toes and
startle that I have not
moved at all.
