as I sit cross-legged
on that bright sunny day no rain will mar the memories my tears leave those large drops on my glasses my shirt is stained they fall freely on my jeans my soul bleeds for absent lovers... I have never been to those fields but my mind's eye sees them clearly I am there, alone I have waited there all of my life believing in their beauty, unbelieving in my ability to share it alone I sit listening to the west wind blow and cry for the promises I never kept because they were never made who will walk there now with me in those fields of golden barley of sunflowers, of buttercups, of yellow daises? these tears of emptiness will dry, the rain quiets there will be more summer days lying in fields of gold, waiting for someone to stay with me fields of gold [2007.21.4....a]
