The Waterdawgs Press Newsletter
A request for help from the WDC members.

My husband’s National Guard Unit deploys for Iraq in June, and the Unit has started the Family Readiness Group (FRG). For those not familiar with the military this FRG is comprised of friends and family of the soldiers that come together to support and comfort each other while their soldiers are overseas. The Major is big on having the best FRG in state and pushing for a very active group. Because of this, I am now reporter, editor, and publisher of The Waterdawg Press and a web site.

The newsletter will have the usual, what the FRG did on its last meeting or outing as well as helpful information pertaining to military assistance for the families; however, it will also go out to ever soldier in the Unit. It is one thing for the soldiers to read that we had a play-date for their children, but I would really like to see something that they could look forward to reading each month.

I would like to ask, if anyone here on the WDC might like to contribute to the newsletter. The newsletter needs some uplifting, inspirational, and fun short stories, poems, or articles from people other than me. I cannot place current events and troublesome information in the newsletter, but I can have fiction, self-help information, poems, anything that does not have a political or objectionable slant toward the military.

I would really like to see something for every member of the FRG to read. This newsletter will be going to the soldiers, their families and their children. It will go out in email and postal mail and an archived on the web site www.waterdawgs1387.com I would like to give the soldiers something pleasant to look forward to each month as well as articles for the family and a poem or story for the children. I also plan to have some kind of puzzle or coloring sheet for the children. I could also use come good quotes.

I could use all the suggestions and help that any one is willing to give me. I do not know if a publisher would consider items placed in a newsletter as having already been published, but if anyone would like to write something for the soldiers or their families it would be greatly appreciated.
