from heartache to heartache
a Pantoum on love in between heartaches

alone from heartache to heartache we stand
togetherness is all we’ll soon forget
caught between heaven and hell
red roses wilt, but leave the thorns

togetherness is what we’ll soon forget
out on the streets again, we wonder why
red roses wilt, but leave the thorns
that lonesome whistle calls us away again

out on the streets again, we wonder why
packed in a suitcase, we’ve no where to go
that lonesome whistle calls us away again
but still my love, I’m chained to your side

packed in a suitcase, we’ve no where to go
your sweet face haunts my sleepless nights
but still my love, I’m chained to your side
why did you turn me away from that glorious us?

your sweet face haunts my sleepless nights
like those damning pictures hung in the shadows
why did you turn me away from that glorious us?
I can’t go on wandering this path alone

like those damning pictures hung in the shadows
will I find my own way out of this darkness?
I can’t go on wandering this path alone
I need the light of your eyes to guide me

will I find my own way out of this darkness?
out of the torment of this unwelcome solitude?
I need the light of your eyes to guide me
to let love break my heart, just once more

out of the torment of this unwelcome solitude
caught between heaven and hell
to let love break my heart, just once more
alone from heartache to heartache we stand

from heartache to heartache
