Darkness
I know that the title sounds al doom and gloom but read the poem then make your judgment.

The light fades into twilight;
The last rays of the sun linger over the white flowers
Caressing them with dying radiance.
The sun dips beyond the horizon;
Plunging the world into night.

The moon illuminates the world;
Wan and sickly, shining through the mists
The white flowers glowing;
Like stars mirrored upon the dark ground.
The frost spreads;
Freezing the ground as it goes.

Dramatically the spider web is transformed;
Becoming a sculpture of ice gems.
The wind rattles the bare branches;
Old father oak shivers.

The clouds move across the sky;
Blocking out the moon and stars.
The frozen surface of the river;
Begins to crack and groan.

Owl peeps out from his hole;
Deep within the tree.
The clouds break open in places;
The moonlight returns.
The white flowers close their petals;
To hide away from the cold.
Darkness rules;
Until dawn.
