I live my life day by day,
Always looking for a better way.
I'm always considering what to do,
How to live my life without you.
I was the body, you were the soul,
Until that night you had to go.
We had such a wonderful life together.
It's so hard to release the tether.
I held you close and kissed your lips.
I watched helpless, as your life began to slip.
I held your hand and kissed you face.
All those doctors, what a waste.
I knew that it wouldn't be long,
Till, I was left without you, all alone.
You opened your eyes and said with a smile,
'Hold me tight while I walk my final mile.'
I held you in our loving way.
You closed your eyes and slipped away.
I know everyone has to die.
It's just so hard to say that last goodbye.
