I haven't been working on my big story, so I made my self a promise. If I wasn't working on that, I had to write something, anything. This is all I could muster.
Mike came home and found Faith asleep on the living room floor in front of the T.V. She had been watching the cooking channel again. This meant he was in for another experiment. He walked over and saw the note pad she had laid next to her. “Moroccan Chicken?” he cringed. “Good Lord.” This is why he kept a stash of antacids hidden throughout the house. He took in the sight of her asleep; her long, dark hair spread around her, her olive skin, and soft lips curved into a slight smile. She was beautiful. To him, she all but had an angelic glow. God he loved her, from the moment he met her. Mike had walked into his local coffee house and she was sitting alone at a table with her laptop. She giggled when they announced his drink ready. Turning, he saw her trying to stifle her laugh. Unsure how long he stood there looking at her, it was evidently long enough for one of the employees to clear his throat to get him to move away from the counter. Mike walked over to her table. “Hi, may I join you?” He asked. Faith looked up surprised. Glancing around the room, she saw there were plenty of open seats and was confused, “Excuse me?” “May I join you? He smiled. “Ah, OK.” She agreed. He sat down across from her. They looked at each other for a moment, “So, you found my drink order funny.” He smiled. Faith, embarrassed, blushed. “I’m sorry. That was rude. I shouldn’t have laughed.” “What was funny about it?” he was amused. Faith started to squirm, “Well, it isn’t very masculine, and you are such a big guy.” She tried to stifle another giggle. “I have a sweet tooth. I’m willing to risk the humiliation to indulge it.” He smiled broadly. She laughed heartily and his heart skipped a beat. Extending his hand to her, “Hi, I’m Michael,” he introduced himself. She looked into green eyes framed by dark lashes and knew she was in trouble. She already had the urge to run her fingers through his curly hair. “Faith.” She said taking his hand instead. That was a year ago. Now they were living together and engaged. Dropping his belongings out of the way, he curled up behind her on the floor. He wrapped his arm around her and she snuggled up close, covering his arm with hers. He loved that she always held him in her sleep. He lay there with her until she stirred and woke. She blinked her eyes and rolled over to find Mike smiling at her. “Hey, baby.” She kissed him lovingly, “When did you get here?” “About thirty minutes ago.” “Why didn’t you wake me?” “There was no reason to.” She smiled, “You are so cute.” She kissed him again. “I can’t believe I fell asleep! I guess I’ll have to go online to get the recipe for dinner.” “We could just order a pizza.” He suggested and hoped she would agree. She knew him too well, “Not interested in the chicken?” “Not really,” he laughed, “I feel like comfort food tonight.” “Did you have a bad day?” concern laced her voice. “No. I just want pizza.” “OK.” She scooted closer to him and placed her hand on the side of his face. Faith’s voice was soft and intimate. “You know, I was dreaming about you.” “Oh yeah? What were you dreaming?” he smiled. She leaned in, kissed him, and looked into his eyes. He pulled her closer and they kissed again. With their limbs entwined, their mouths and tongues explored each other and Mike turned over on top of her. His kisses moved to her neck while his hand explored under her t-shirt, her soft skin growing warmer with every touch. She moved to allow him access to any part of her he wanted. Faith un-tucked his shirt so her hands were able to feel just him. Mike’s kisses returned to her mouth and his hips ground exquisitely into hers. Faith moaned in pleasure and responded in kind. When Mike moved so he could remove her shirt, she smiled and said, “So, what, you’re not even gonna buy me dinner first? What kind of girl do you think I am?” Mike smiled at her raising an eyebrow, “You started it.” “Yeah, I did. But I thought we could just make out a little.” “Woman, please.” Faith laughed. “Tell you what, I’ll go order the pizza to be delivered, and then I’ll meet you upstairs.” “Are you kidding? What happens when the delivery guy shows?” He leaned down and kissed her softly. “It will take at least 45 minutes for him to get here.” He said as if it were a huge revelation. “Ohhhhh,” she said nodding. “45 minutes.” She smiled at him. “Riiiiiight.” He smiled back at her, glad she understood. “Maybe even longer.” “You silly, silly man.” She said taking his face in her hands. “What?” “You think we will only need 45 minutes.” He looked at her bemused. “We are going to need much, much longer. There may even be adult movies involved.” she said with a mischievous grin. A smile spread across his face, “Maybe we could just eat cereal and get to the rest of the evening.” “Awww,” she laughed, “Come on, be a gentleman and buy a lady dinner first at least.” He kissed her again, deeply, and passionately. She wrapped her arms around him and gave in fully to his kiss. Mike drew back enough to look her in the eye. “I’ll go order and put a rush on it.” He gave her a quick kiss, “God I love you.” He said looking into her eyes. He jumped up and ran to the phone to place the order. Faith laughed. God, I love him too.
