MY HEART HURTS
My heart hurts when love remains Unreciprocated Like drops of water the tears Are unkindly rated. My heart hurts when bombs are hurled Ostensibly for peace; When superpowers decide To, tiny countries, fleece. My heart hurts when religion Is branded as cover For the acts of terrorism That make the world shiver. My heart hurts when women are, By men, subjugated; In the name of religion Rights are abrogated. My heart hurts when a young child Does unprotected roam, Without love and protection, Leaving a broken home. * Written in abcb 7-6-7-6 format M C Gupta 8 September 2005
