With these eyes I had seen the sun rise…
Seen it shine down its golden light. My Senses recall the songs of birds, Fragrant blooms that once were…. Joyous smiles lit the night sky as Frivolous laughter rang resound. I’ve felt love I’ve felt joy, In a happy kingdom so divine. Voices carried on the wind spoke Not of evil, for there was none. They swore the times would last forever And we would always sing songs of hope. Could things change such golden times? The winds spoke not of our plight Yet the gods forswore our haven And cometh in shades the dark one. He stole our hearts with mottos faux, And with lies he engulfed our souls… He spoke of power, glory divine, And smiled as fools succumbed below. The World saw our power surge And we saw us crumbling beneath. At times, we knew we were wrong But knew we did then all hope was lost. With years, birds deserted the land Resounded no more voices on the winds. In limbo lay a land once so fine Cloaked in shadows, lost in despair. Over the hills, in death I hear The echoes of the distant times… Visions I knew once so true now Lay lost in the sands of time.
