This battle you fight
Begins everyday. All the food that you eat, In your mind you replay. You hated you yesterday, You hate you today. Maybe something will change So it won't be this way. Your image so distorted, Your body so thin... Yet you still battle on, A fight you can't win. Food consumes thoughts, It's matter over mind. A perfect weight? Try as you might, It's something you won't ever find. Everyday is a struggle To step out into the world. What do other people think When they see this emaciated girl? She sees a body, So different than what is real. She hates how she is, But you can't change how you feel. All the latest magazines Feature women that are thin. How does one starve itself, So that they look like them? And women on the T.V. too, Seem to be much the same. Everyone's so thin and perfect, What is healthy again? Maybe one day, When the battle is won, And she looks perfect, And better than everyone, She won't have to worry, Won't have to starve or to cry... But the battle is only won... When one of them dies.
