A Stare
Another short one about a nonexistent love

A stare enough to stop my breath.
A stare enough to stop the beat in my chest.
You’ve become so far without ever being near.
How is it the sight of you fills me with fear?
Is it the control you at once hold over me?
The ability to destroy, the ability to free.
Where have you gone without ever being here.
With you I believe it would all become quite clear.
The hours, they pass without change from the last.
You're still as you are, and I'm left at a loss.
Words do not come, ideas do not embellish
what I have to say, you would never really relish.
So I stand undistinguished, broken, and crossed
this price has come at such a high cost.
Love is a game and I fear I have lost.
