Just Try Being You © 5/17/1957 Original words as published in a local paper many years ago. Would you be somebody else, And not who you are, Like a famous musician, And play a guitar? Maybe star in the movies and Make lots of money, No matter the role, Could be serious or funny. Perhaps sports is what You would choose, Play it so great that You’d never loose. A world famous lawyer; Every lead you would trace, To get the innocent off and Win every case. All of these you could be, And so many more, But you’re already somebody, That is for sure. Man or woman, you’ve Made your own place, Winning, or losing at At your own pace. If to yourself, family, and Others you are true, You should be content, Just try being you. Monty
