Love For A Pet

Upon the floor he lies
Not a care in sight
He may just stay there
Till the early morning light

He sometimes goes for a walk
Or cuddles in the chair
Sometimes in the bed
I gently stroke his hair

He chases all the birds
He digs holes in the dirt
He always comes to me
When he gets a little hurt

His hair is smoky white
His eyes are crystal blue
He does the funniest things
I've ever seen him do

At night he comes to me
And tells me of his day
He is my pet cat
And he has so much to say

I listen to his purr
And he licks my hand
A love for a pet isn't so hard
If you take time to understand
