Searching For Peace
A poem about trying to get away from your problems

The rotting wood
does not do enough
to remind me of the terrible things inside each and everyone I've crossed.
The rush of birds and insects
does not do enough
to remind me of those hectic days, all so trivial and shallow.
The shadow of the mountain
does not do enough
to remind me of his shadow cast upon me those many years.
The beauty of the riverside
does not do enough
to remind me of your face, an angel I could not touch.
However, I cannot find peace in this land,
for the voices echo still.
A harsh reminder of the past,
terrible memories persist to last,
A harsh reminder of the past.
