And She Danced
For those who have lost touch with the present and find peace in the past.

They came, and they played the music of yore
She seemed to remember she'd heard it before
On legs that were weary she stood, in a trance
Held out her arms, then she started to dance

She danced in a dream of yesteryear
Held in her arms again, a form that was dear
On tired old legs that were filled with pain
Back to her youth she journeyed again

The music brought memories of another time
Of soft summer evenings, and sweet summer wine
Life seemed eternal in the days of her youth
But nothing's forever, and that is the truth

Time was the enemy, the years hurried past
Tired and weary he gave in at last
She staggered and stumbled 'neath the blow she was dealt
With the loss of him and the pain she felt

There was no one to love her now, nobody to mind
So she journeyed backward, her love to find
And the music she danced to, would go on forever
She danced with a memory now, ever and ever
