I went to see the doctor
He took one look at me Boy you got a problem That I can plainly see Sit up on the table And I will call my nurse It looks like quite a job So we better get to work. The nurse came in And the doctor left She looked me in the eye And scared me half to death Lie back on the table I know just what to do Close your eyes and just relax You’re be better when I’m through As I lay there on the table My troubles disappeared Minutes changed to hours Hours into years She read to me from Hemmingway And T.S. Elliot Love Sonnets of Portugal I never will forget She touched my hand She closed her book A tear was in her eye She kissed me gently on the cheek And then she said goodbye Broken hearts are hard t mend May take a little time Try a little common sense Poetry and rhyme
