Wail On
I've always been a little jealous of freight trains.

Wail on, lonely engine whistle
Wail on, carrying the night
Traveling down these rails
Wonder where you’re bound
Wonder if you’ll ever turn around

Wail on, through those greener pastures
Wail on, lonely whistle call
Marking all the miles
Past swiftly fading light
Keeping track how far you’ve gone
Wail on

Won’t you let me climb aboard
And share your higher road
Promise I won’t slow you down

I’m looking for a way
To finally escape
This legacy-less nowhere town

Wail on, keep the crossroads clear now
Wail on, balancing the freight
The clicking of your wheels fades into the dawn
Wonder how long we’ll be gone
Wail on…wail on…
Lonely engine whistle, wail on
