When to Let Go
Sometimes failing can be the best thing for us.

When the battle lines are clearly drawn
You’re standing tall all on your own
Until you feel the ground fall out from under you
And you grab for something to hold on
To catch yourself when you’re half gone
And maybe no one is waiting there to help you

But that’s all right – don’t fight the fear
There’s more than one way out of here
Hold on to what you know
And learn when to let go

Then the fight is over, the curtains close
But nobody applauds the show
You look around and see you’re all alone
Maybe no one can appreciate
Just what it took to make this break
It will take a while for all the scars to fade

But that’s all right – don’t fight the fear
There’s more than one way out of here
Hold on to what you know
And learn when to let go

Oh, but slowly nightmares fade to dreams
You run into your sanity
And suddenly, the grass beneath your feet has turned to green

Just when you’ve proclaimed your fate
And renounced the thing which made you hate
Your ‘never’ just shows up a little late
Now that you know a few things more
You find you’ve found a thing that’s sure
Nothing’s etched in stone, but this is different than before

And that’s all right – don’t fight the fear
There’s more than one way out of here
Hold on to what you know
And learn when to let go
