Whiskers

A cat has whiskers
Why are they there
Are they part of his face
Or part of his hair
Above his eyes around his nose
They seem to follow him where ever he goes
Do they help him to catch mice or maybe to smell
I ask my cat but he wouldn't tell
They are long and silky and mostly white
Do they help him see in the dark of night
What good are they I have no clue
Have they been there forever
Or are they brand new
My cats not talking
He'll say not a word
When I ask him he thinks I'm absurd
I know not the reason
Why whiskers are there
and to tell the truth
I simply don't care.
