Blue Moon
What are you looking at, Moon?

They say you are an oddity-
a rarity-

a gem.

Like the Hope Diamond you shimmer
translucent blue and hopeful
over the sky and my heart.

I traveled to the top of Winston's Hill,
the highest point in West Laurence, Kansas

to see the dimples in your lovely face.

Everyone sees your beauty

but I know it,

blue moon

because my life has been revolving around your
Haphazard ways.

For once in a blue moon
someone will truly find God
And once in a blue moon
someone will fall in love
And once in a blue moon
it will be my day

my day...

I climb Winston's Hill
to see you-
to beseech you-

for my turn.
