Choices
A poem I wrote in 1999, when I met my significant other. We've been together 8 years.

Choices

Life gives us choices
answers too hard to find
Your heart takes a chance
pays no heed to your mind.

You leave all you love
just to be here with me,
your music, your friends
all your fond memories.

I thought I could fill
that void in your life,
but it seems that I've caused
you more grief and more strife.

I've heard if you love him
you must let him go,
but my heart will be breaking
'cause I care for him so.

Go back to your home town
and the things that you miss,
write your songs, see your friends
but remember this.

I made the choice and
I took the chance that
you'd find that you miss me
and want to come back.
