Using 'My Review Tool' Accessing 'My Review Tool' The first step to using 'My Review Tool' is to access it: 1) On every page of WDC, the upper left portion of the main screen has a site navigation section: Things To Do & Read Browse By Type Browse By Genre Writing Resources My Account ...etc. Click your mouse on the 'My Account' box. You should see a new column appear including a myriad of useful places specific to YOU on WDC. 2) Near the bottom of this column you will find 'My Review Tool'. Move the mouse over and down to 'My Review Tool' and click. 3) Provided your web-browser isn't blocking pop-ups from WDC, you should have a new window entitled, 'My Review Tool'. Congratulations, you've accessed it! There is another way to access 'My Review Tool', and I will discuss this later. What is in 'My Review Tool'? 'My Review Tool' is made up of two distinct sections. The first is the 'Review Template Manager' and the second, 'My Draft Reviews'. Review Template Manager The Review Template Manager is where you can create, modify, and delete your review templates. There are four controls: from the templates you've already created. This is used to modify or delete templates. button to open a window for editing your template. button to delete it forever. There is a confirmation box, so don't worry about accidentally deleting a template. templates. My Draft Reviews My Draft Reviews lists all of the reviews that you've previously begun, and decided to store for later completion. There are a few parts to each draft listed: Creating a new review Template As described above, to create a new template, simply open the 'My Review Tool' and click 'NEW'. A new window will open. Here you can name the template, change the body of the template, preview and store the template. There are a couple things to consider when creating a template. page, and the rest will say 'Sharing Access Restricted'. -Poems have different areas to focus on than short stories and images. Use the template to provide you with a checklist of things to look at. You'll never forget to check spelling if your template tells you to. The review template can be as complex or as simple as you want. All this tool does is allow you to use a couple clicks of a mouse to load the template into your review screen, instead of having to type the same information over for EVERY review. My templates are included as examples at the end of this article. Using 'My Review Tool' for reviews! Now, once you've created your template, and are ready to sift through WDC again, you need to know how to USE the template you've created. This is the second way to access 'My Review Tool' I mentioned earlier. At the bottom of every item is the standard review block you are familiar with. Nine radial buttons allow you to select your rating, and a large text block allows you to write a review. Send some GPs, perhaps, and click Rate&Review! Now, the Review Tool is slightly different. Just to the right of the 'Preview (Below)' button is a 'Review Tool' button. Click the button to open the Review Tool for the item you're reviewing. This opens a window that shows: Chose a template from the 'Chose a Template:' drop down box, and click the LOAD. Your template is loaded into the Review Text Block, and away you go! If you want to save a draft, click 'Store Draft' or 'Store/Edit'. From there, you can chose to Review Anonymously, Include the review on the Reviewing page, include GPs with your review, spell check/preview and SUBMIT! ...or not? What if I want to... Store a draft? Let's suppose that you've started a review, and for whatever reason decided that you needed to do something else. Maybe the phone rang, you noticed you were running late for that publisher's meeting, or you finally found the inspiration to break your writer's block...what then? Click 'Store Draft'. Your review screen will automatically return to the main review-tool page, and you will be able to see your new draft listed under, 'My Draft Reviews'. Your review is saved, and you may continue it at a later time!
