THE COLOUR OF SILENCE
I speak and you listen; That is conversation. Though you may be silent, You are talking to me. I speak, you keep quiet, Because you are thinking About what all I spoke; You are then not silent. I speak you don’t listen; My words don’t mean a thing. I don’t exist for you, That is being silent. I speak and you don’t care, You start off with your speech. You are then yet silent About what I did speak. It’s clear that silence is More than words not spoken. Variable, in fact, Colours of silence are. • Written in 6-6-6-6 format • Written for "Invalid Item" M C Gupta 17 May 2007
