SPIRIT

Alone at the head of the stairs
I sit with head in hand
trying now to somehow see
what I just can not understand

Back and forth my memory races
shooting through my broken heart
tears are falling from my eyes
in my soul is where it starts

A spirit of days gone by
came to visit for awhile
to take away a sadden heart
and replace it with a smile

A gentle giving spirit
sat with me and told me much
then flew softly away
and left a tender touch
