Lovin' Chair

Lovin’ Chair

From my mother-in-law I received a gift
Of chair she no longer needed.
An old brown recliner that doesn’t fit
That lovin’ chair she gave me.

Her lovin’ chair she called it
Soft and cozy she loved the feel
Of the warm hug she felt from it.
Her lovin’ chair she gave me.

It has seen better days, but in it I sit
To feel snuggled and warm
When the day is long or I feel sick.
My lovin’ chair she gave me.

It isn’t much and it sags a bit,
It leans and has a bad spring
But it helps me reminisce,
Our lovin’ chair she gave me.

Of flowers grown and roses snipped,
Of branches on the family tree.
Of crochet hooks and stitches stitched
In that old lovin’ chair she gave me.
