05.06.79--19.03.07 "Bittersweet"
a brief poem on how rejection is like being buried alive

The lingering stench of rejection
Surrounds me . . .
I'm trapped in a
Pit I dug eagerly
For myself.
I taste the bitterness
Of my sorrow as I
Scream in silence
Wanting you to notice me.
Yet every smile, every wave,
Every sideways glance
Renders me more
Invisible
Than before.
My deaf ears turn away,
Ignoring your laughter
Of my own stupidity.
A shiver overcomes me
As I sense the
Stinging horror
Of loneliness
Waiting in the shadows
To devour me.
Do you realize you
Bury me slowly
Every moment I see you?
Or do I have to die alone
For you to know
I am
Alive?
