the walls of conformity
seek to choke with the vines that grow on its surface

self-effacing, self-debasing
presenting a mirage, a hologram
allowed to be seen, but never touched
fragility won’t allow it
arm’s length to protect
arm’s length keeps one in safety
safety from harm
safety from feeling
safety from the uncontrolled situations of love
