In the Wake of Suicide

Pain unwielding
Sad all the time.
Visions of death
Violent demise

Rage in an instant
Changes life for eternity
There is nothing familiar
Nothing to hold

Loved ones come close
But no one can penetrate
Isolation is deafening
It is survival in a vacuum

Move through the motions
But sadness overwhelms
Tears come from nowhere
You become just a shell

People want to help
Though there is nothing they can do
They know not what to say
In a sea of people, there is no one like you

Anger takes over
Mad at the world…still loving
The one now gone
Praying he’ll just come home

The family is fractured
Not talking or feeling the same
All handling the grief
In their own special way

My hope is that
We all come to understand
That life is precious
And that love brings us home.
