Angels

The bottom has fallen out
Scraping fingernails on the side as you try to scramble to safety
What is safety, anyway?

Safety should be family, love, hope and caring.
But it is none of those things.
Safety isn’t safe at all…it’s survival.
It’s all about figuring out how to wade through the psychobabble,
And how to navigate through the dysfunction that is all around you.

If you are lucky, along the way you meet those who are kind enough to give you a hand. They seem to understand without being told. They hold out arms waiting to embrace. They know what is to love…and to have lost. They are lovely souls filled with light. I think they might be angels. I hope they can teach me to fly.
