ALPHA

         It starts . . .

         Somewhere cold.
         Sometime near.
A figure trudged through the screaming tundra.  Bundled in grey fur, the figure seemed lonely.
         Through the void.
A forest of nothingness and death.
         Over hills.
         Down valleys.
         Across frozen rivers.
         One last hill then-
         A town.
A girl, and a new life.
         The child.
Yes, this figure knew much about the gifts of the blood.  He saw the future.  He saw the child’s future, all that was to come to pass, before he crossed the void.  He knew all.  He saw it through his eyes: a gift of the blood from his father.  He saw, knew, understood well, all the consequences his actions would bring.
         And he liked it.
Under the piercing blue eyes of his father, he smiled, and waited for the end to begin.
