I SHED A TEAR: a sonnet-- award winner
My pen cannot describe the scars of those Who are orphaned as bombs fall from the skies; Or the pain of those who had been too close To death as towers fell before their eyes. I can’t describe the agony of those Who pray inside a mosque or temple bombed By human bombs, who as devotees pose, And along with others, too, get entombed. I feel a pain so deep inside my heart When God’s children kill others in His name. Why does mankind from His teachings depart? Why does it bring to His name utter shame? While for the future of mankind I fear, I shed for this humanity a tear. * Previously posted as entry 454505 in "MISCELLANEA" * Awarded third prize in "Invalid Item" M C Gupta 13 September 2006
