A memorable sound

Outside a storm raged
The thunder roared
Inside the crowd fell silent
As hearts soared
It felt like a dream
Thought up in their heads
Their stomachs grew weak
As names were said
The moment was here
To step up to the plate
The day for their future
The day for their fate
Years had gone by
Things had all turned
All they had experienced
All they had learned
Four years ago
They began something new
Everyone was lost
Not sure what to do
A new world, a new chance
A glamour game to some
All with the hopes
That this day would come
From football to golf
From dances to plays
Nothing could replace
Their high school days
Tears dripped to the ground
As smiles lit up the stage
Time for an end
Time for a change
Some walked with relief
Others with pride
Some walked with pain
For fear of good bye
This isn’t an ending
To a novel or book
Its really a beginning
When you take another look
From this day forward
They each walk on their own
Ready for the real world
That they must face alone
This moment is a door
A door for tomorrow
And should be filled with smiles
Not pain or sorrow
On this day with their
white and black gowns
They shall each remember
How their name sounds
For that is the moment
That shows who they are
That They struggled and fought
In the hopes of getting this far
