Choreographed Dysfunction
Written during the first weeks of my current relationship. The year long war has been won.

I think of you
in the day
During the night
you smile sweetens my dreams

You’re so close
but I can’t touch you
We’re always apart
At times it’s hard to bare

Words and papers flutter
Orders from superiors and discipline shouts
I’m bombarded and tied down
A few tears escape me

Precious moments pass too fast
Our time is sand in the hour glass
I’m forced to put you last
When you’re all my girl’s heart desires

Books and pens are my companions
But they demand all my attention
You’re graceful in your ways
Understanding in your affections

What am I to do when needs
and my desires are one in the same
Knowing the difference is heartbreaking
It’s going to be a year long war

I think of you in the day
I dream of you during the night
Day time peace, bedside angel
You’re my necessary evil
