The surgeon's incision was perfect. His hand steady, his eyes keen, his cut straight. As the scalpel sliced smoothly through the skin layers and down into the fatty tissue not one drop of blood appeared.

"What the...?

The surgeon dropped his scalpel and the nurse across the gurney from him let out a gasp then fainted dead away.

"Sutures! Give me sutures STAT! Anybody!"

The surgeon looked down helplessly as the sand poured out of the opened cut, leaving his patient nothing but a slowly emptying husk.
