The Rowan was once revered as a sacred tree; used as a centerpiece by the Druids and Wiccans in the healing arts. That was back when the ground was worshipped and the plantlife held in high esteem.
Until very recently, when a new collective had found and embraced the glen in which the Rowan stood and adopted it as their own. Lately, the sacrificial offerings had been of a different sort and the tree felt itself growing thirstier for more. Never had it craved sustenance all through the centuries as it did now, when the blood ran deep and the roots turned red. The Rowan wants more, and you're standing closest. 111 WORD COUNT
