Sleep comes as the end
Written when I was feeling drowsy after taking flu meds.

Sleep comes as the end

Waves crashed overhead...

Pulling sand from the shores...

The movement of the gushing water incessant...

The roaring sound never died.

The mind envisioned as

voices drifted from far away

sounding distant and empty

as they travelled from the ear to the brain.

The movement of the sound waves lost velocity

causing them to stretch.

They sound far away.

Neurones fired slowly.

The sight blurred. Images were distorted. Skewed.

Images mixed like the clothes that spun in a drier.

Colours became white.

The eyes rolled back. Darkness is imminent.

The lids fluttered...

Once...

They tried to hold on.

Twice...

The fight seemed futile.

Thrice...

There was no will left to fight.

I gave up.

I lost.

All is black. All is still. All is bliss.

Sleep came

in the end.
