Walking in Evil's Path

She cried as she was beaten
She fought and she screamed
She begged it to end
She prayed only in vain.

She stumbled through life
Fear around every corner
She wished her life to vanish
Until he came with an offer.

“If it’s fear you want to end,
Then I shall help you achieve.
If it’s protection you desire,
Just give your life to me.”

She looked at the sly Devil,
Dressed in blue from head to toe
Being intimidated for so long
She agreed wearily to let go.

They walked together every day,
This Master of Evil and she.
She carried out the misdeeds of him
Losing herself in protection agreed.

She murdered, she pillaged, she stole for him.
She shot, she stabbed, and she lied.
She lost her core in devious natures
Now his mistress, the Darkness her keeper.

But when you carry yourself in evil
Eventually it all will begin to turn
You realize your strength is no more
With a vengeance, your weakness returns.

The drugs begin to wear off,
The thrill, it always subsides.
The evil has enveloped you
With the demons now deep inside.

So once again, she screamed and fought
As many more now beat her down.
The ones who once protected her
Were the same who had her bound.

She was bandaged and patched
Covering wounds of personal hell.
But it didn’t swathe the nightmares
Or silence her heart’s anguished wail.

When you walk alongside the devil
One of the earth or one of the flames
You'll cross the point of no return
And your vile torment is what remains.
